Coastal Resilience

GBRC works with coastal communities to address and plan for the impacts of coastal storms and flooding.

Our nation's coastal ecosystems are vital to our economy and quality of life; however, the health of these resources is in decline. Healthy coastal ecosystems are directly connected to a region's business climate, the safety of its people and a sustainable quality of life. The consequent need to better understand, manage, and protect our region's coastal resources is paramount.

The GBRC works with coastal communities to address and plan for the impacts of coastal storms and flooding, assess public infrastructure and natural resources vulnerable to these events and estimate the financial value of personal property at risk.

As part of the program the GBRC will develop a partnership with local communities and stakeholders that is inclusive of municipal and regional concerns and ensures outreach to cities and towns regarding coastal flooding adaptability.
